How to have your say in your local community for GE free zones. (click here to comment)

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

Many readers have emailed us with concerns regarding GE feeding of cattle in many states (particularly Victoria). As we know, the feeding practices of the cow will be transferred into the milk that WE are drinking!!

So here’s how to make a difference!
Please ask your local council to be GM-free. Gene Ethics will supply a petition tailored for your area and a 2 page briefing. Please email them  by following this link with the name of your council and your personal contact details.

Many councils are also making their meals on wheels, creches and other food services GM-free, and taking various other GM-free actions. These are all important to turning the tide on the few hectares of GM canola grown this year.

Together, we can still win a GM-free future. Please take positive action for GM-free in your local community.

Processed milk outbreak: China (Click here to comment)

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

The processed milk outbreak in China has been unbelievable - could it really be possible that food products that are so highly regulated could cause such massive problems?

Now we see that zoo animals are also being affected…

This whole issue is highly relevant to us real-milkers. Real milk, straight from the farm, let’s us control our milk supply AND understand where our food comes from..

Tainted milk scare spreads to zoo
Article from: NEWS.com.au, September 26, 2008 05:53am

HAND-reared zoo animals in China are the latest victims of the baby milk powder scandal, the Associated Press reports.

A lion cub and two baby orangutans have developed kidney stones after been fed formula tainted with the chemical melamine.

AP said the animals from the Hangzhou Safari Park near Shanghai were sent to the Hangzhou Zhangxu Animal Hospital for checks by staff concerned by reports on the human impact of the contamination scandal.

Veterinarian Zhang Xu said the affected animals had been nursed with milk powder for more than a year.
